Popular Christmas crafts

The processes of making a couple of the popular Christmas crafts are described here. You can include these crafts in the decorations to give a beautiful look to your home on this holiday season.

Orange pomanders

  • To make the traditional decoration craft orange pomanders you will need a thick skinned orange, clover, cinnamon powder, orris root powder, ground nutmeg and ground allspice.
  • To make the pomander roll the orange with both hands, so that it loosens up a bit and it will be easier for you to push in the cloves. Next using a large draining needle, poke some holes into the orange and then put a clove into each of the holes.
  • Now mix all the powders together and roll the orange to that, filling up the empty space between the cloves as much as possible.
  • Take a cardboard box and line it up with tissue paper, put the orange inside and put the remaining powder on top of that. Store it in a warm and dry place for about 3 - 4 weeks.
  • Take it out, shake off the extra powder and tie it up with an attractive holiday colored ribbon with a bow and a loop for hanging it up anywhere you want.

Egg shell bulbs

  • To make the egg shell bulb, take an egg and poke a hole at the bottom with a small pin, use another pin to poke a bigger hole at the top.
  • Take out the insides of the egg by blowing through the smaller hole. Next use a sharp scissor to cut the front of the egg big enough to accommodate a scene inside.
  • Take a ribbon, bend it into half and stick the ends by the bigger hole with glue and let it dry overnight. Cut out small pictures from your old Christmas cards to arrange the scene in the egg.
  • Stick a piece of cotton at the bottom of the egg and attach small figures there to make the scene; your egg shell bulb is now ready for display.
